Therapy Services
Individual Therapy
Most of the therapies I offer fall under the broad umbrella of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In CBT, the philosophy is that how you think influences how you feel. As such, small alterations in your thinking and behavior can have a large impact on your mood.
I have also completed Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT), designed to increase our innate ability to give compassion outwardly, to receive compassion from others, and to generate compassion for ourselves. I regularly incorporate these tenants in my work.

Traditional CBT
CBT has proven efficacy in treating depression, anxiety, chronic pain, trauma, insomnia, and a number of other symptom presentations.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
This is my preferred modality. In ACT, the goal is to develop psychological flexibility by increasing mindfulness, identifying and living consistently with our values, and changing the way we relate to our thoughts and feelings so they are neither our enemy, nor our boss.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT was originally designed specifically for treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder, but has proven effective for many other diagnoses. It involves development of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP)
CBASP is designed for treatment of persistent depression. It involves learning to understand your role in interpersonal interactions, and increasing your ability to respond in a way that gets you what you want.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
CPT is considered one of the two gold-standard treatments for trauma. It involves identifying Stuck Points - faulty beliefs that impede recovery - and developing more realistic and balanced interpretations. Themes include Safety, Trust, Intimacy, Esteem, and Power/Control.
Prolonged Exposure (PE)
PE is considered the other gold-standard trauma treatment. It involves: 1) recalling the trauma in detail every session, 2) listening to a recording of that week's session daily, and 3) creating a hierarchy of feared (but objectively safe) experiences, and working slowly to increase engagement in these activities.
Couples’ Therapy
Emotionally Focused Couples’ Therapy (EFT)
Using this modality, you can expect to learn about your attachment style and how you and your partner have become caught in a cyclical "dance" that hurts the relationship. Therapy will involve learning to experience and communicate your primary emotions to your partner in an effective and loving way.
Therapy at a safe distance.
Due to the ongoing global pandemic and to ensure the safety of our most vulnerable populations and the community at large, I am offering exclusively telehealth appointments at this time. Telehealth is available to all California residents with access to internet and a computer, and has robust empirical evidence demonstrating equal efficacy to in-person appointments. Telehealth also improves accessibility to therapy when circumstances (e.g. geographic, physical, or otherwise) may render in-person appointments inconvenient.
